ASSOCIATION OF FORMER STUDENTS
In the memory of the ones that have studied in IPCA there are moments of joy, friendship and dedication that will never vanish. The share the academic spirit is something that is going to sustain the lives of all that have been in IPCA.
Singular experiences, that have shaped their personality, were lived. There were moments of hard study, aiming to integrate the professional life. But there were also great moments of academic environment, when everyone participated in civic causes, considered fair.
Then, concluded the course, life changed with other priorities, like finding a job and integrate the labour market. In this important part of every student’s life the interaction with their academic mates became difficult. So, the creation of a structure that shortened this distance became vital.
The natural answer was the creation of the Association of Former Students of the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave, in January 2008.
The Association of Former Students is the connection link between everyone that has studied in IPCA. It keeps the friendship and complicity ties that have joined them once. The Students Association manages its own budget and is yearly sponsored by the Portuguese Youth Institute, the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave and by the Barcelos City Council.
The Academic Tuna (TAIPCA) of Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave was created in 2000. Most of its members come from the extinct male and female tuna.
After the admission of some new members, with undeniable love for music and strong will to sing, the Academic Tuna of IPCA performed for the first time on the 7th December 2001.
Since that day TAIPCA has travelled all over the country and abroad, performing in tunas festivals and meetings, serenades, popular festivals and parties, taking to eternity moments of music, joy, drinks, friendship and love.
Helped by Bacchus, the Roman God of wine and intoxication, and inspired by the girls from the academy, from Portugal and from every country, “tunos” spread happiness and romance wherever they go.
